A New Cover Reveal, a Birthday and a Baby

December so soon?

Another year is almost gone. Despite the rapidity with which it has elapsed, I hope you have had some good moments amidst the calamitous and chaotic state the world is currently in. That is something I don’t normally talk about in my newsletters. If you’re like me, you get enough news and opinions on the world in your email and social media channels. And it is not that I am unaware of what goes on in the world, of course. I am as shocked and horrified as you about some of the things that happen each day. With all that said, I feel that you read my stories to get away from the world, not to be reminded of it, if just for a little while.

My novels are grounded in reality despite their subject matter, and I strive to be as accurate and realistic as I can in my portrayal of the world and the people that inhabit it. With that grounding, it allows me to take the fantastic and terrifying elements of the story to greater heights. That is what I did in my debut novel CLAW: A Canadian Thriller, and try to continue doing to this day.

CLAW: The Hardcover

I mention CLAW because it just celebrated its fourth birthday today! Now, four years later, I am just finishing up the last novel in the prequel series, CLAW Emergence: Return to Darkness (see cover reveal below). With CLAW’s sequel CLAW Resurgence already released, I am already making notes in preparation for a third present-day novel coming next spring, CLAW Resurrection. And don’t worry, another Lively Deadmarsh novel is also planned and the twins will be making a return next fall.

I feel truly blessed and delighted by the enjoyment CLAW has given readers around the world, and continues to do to this day. When I wrote CLAW, I wrote it with an eye to giving readers a ‘movie-like’ experience. Many have emailed me since its release to say they feel like they are ‘there’ with the characters as they read CLAW and say it should get made into a motion picture, so it would appear I have succeeded on that level. And speaking of which, CLAW: The Movie is now one step closer to reality, now that the actor’s and screenwriter’s strikes are over. As many of you already know, I have signed a contract with a major American production company. However, since the movie is still in the process of being shopped around and not yet in production, I can say no more at this point. But, fingers crossed!

Nibbler Berry

Before I forget, I would like to introduce you to my new muse. After six months, my little Mimsie has not come home. Though I am still broken hearted, I found a new sweet soul to welcome into my life. He is part of an animal rescue and was found in a ditch at the side of the road. This little boy’s name is Nibbler, in case you haven’t seen my social media posts. He is a sweet, gentle, playful little bundle of fluff that I have come to love very much in the short time we’ve been together. He will be an indoor only cat, since I couldn’t bear another baby disappearing.

And speaking of babies, my latest novel will be arriving into this world very soon! I hope you like the new cover, I think it works well with the other two and makes you want to dive right in to see what its all about. Make sure you keep an eye on your inbox for its upcoming release date. I am working hard to get it out the door and into your hands for some high adventure monster action in time for the holidays.

And as a special thank you to everyone for allowing me to entertain you for the last four years with tales of monsters, mayhem and madness, I would like to give four bonus audiobooks of CLAW: A Canadian Thriller to you, my amazing Katie Berry Books Insiders.
