Where, Oh Where Has My Little Month Gone?

I honestly can’t believe January is now in the rearview mirror, and it’s Ground Hog Day, again. Happily, I have done my due diligence and already watched Mr. Murray and Ms. MacDowell as I often do at this time. But as I watched Groundhog Day and the emotions that came with it, it brought to mind a few things.

Firstly, it’s made me realise how short our time is on this mortal coil. The recent passing of a soul dear to me has left me with great sadness and great responsibility. What we do and who we are as a person as we work through the course of our lives matters. Despite what I do for a living, writing horror thrillers, each day, I try to be respectful of those around me, love those that love me, help those that I can, and be the best person I can be.

Reading some of the recent reviews of CLAW: A Canadian Thriller made me realise that I am doing that each day whenever a new reader picks up CLAW. To paraphrase Jos Whedon’s Firefly, when people read my novels, they get to be, though only vicariously, big damn heroes. Austin, Trip, Christine, Lively and Minerva are great examples of that kind of people. The kind we all aspire to be–those who step up when things get tough. People who won’t allow darkness to consume their world. Those who, through the power of their friendship and determination, try to make the world a better place.

My personal world is currently overwhelmed by the number of things I am dealing with. Between moving into a new place, cleaning and sorting an entire house, dealing with settling an estate, and trying to get my tenth novel out the door, well, it has been daunting, to say the least. Once again, I apologise, but life, as you know, has a habit of getting in the way of things.

I appreciate each and every one of you. I know I have said it before, but I mean it most sincerely; you are my people, my friends, and, dare I say, my tribe. Like me, you love beasts from beyond time and things that go bump in the night. And though I have had to put CLAW Resurrection on the back burner for the last few weeks, please know that it is at the forefront of my mind, as are you. The story is filled with familiar faces, monstrous thrills, suspense, laughter and surprises around every corner. I truly believe you will enjoy it, and I am trying to gradually get back into the post-production swing of things and work on it a little each day.

So, as I like to do, I will update you now and let you know that it might be closer to the end of March before you have the eBook and paperback of Resurrection in your hands, with the audiobook coming along several months later.

One thing that gives me great joy each month is giving away a free audiobook and autographed novel to a couple of my lucky Katie Berry Books Insider Subscribers. With that in mind, the winner of this month’s audiobook is: summitph@XXXXXX.com. And the winner of the autographed novel delivered to their doorstep is: pbreads@XXXXXX.com. Congratulations and I hope you both enjoy your prizes.

Remember, if you’re not a Katie Berry Books Insider Subscriber, it’s never too late to join. To have a chance at winning one of next month’s draws, you can become an Insider here: https://katieberry.ca/become-a-katie-berry-books-insider-and-win/

Take care, my friends, and I will write to you again next month with more news on the progress of CLAW Resurrection.

Good health and great reads,

-Katie B
