A Whole New Year (and more Winners!)

Something’s Alive on the Titanic
The MAW
BARBARIAN

I hope you have all had a wonderful holiday season filled with food, friends, and family. Mine has been small and lowkey but thoroughly enjoyable. I have taken the time to watch some movies I’ve been wanting to see, including Barbarian (I don’t think I’ll ever rent Airbnb again), Spirited (Can’t beat a good musical), and The Evil (An underrated classic from 1978 with Richard Crenna!). I’ve also caught up on a few books I’ve been meaning to read, including The MAW by Taylor Zajonc (I love that underground stuff) and Something’s Alive on the Titanic by Robert J. Serling (underwater is always good, too).

CLAW Emergence Book 1

Thankfully, amid all that relaxing, I was able to get the finishing touches done on CLAW Emergence Book 1: From the Shadows by about ten o’clock on Christmas Eve. And by the time you read this, the paperback of Emergence Book 1 should now be available. For those of your curious, I am already working on Book 2 and hope to have it out to you by mid-spring.

However, that all depends on how my latest surgery goes (yes, another one) on January 6th. I am getting a second total hip replacement at a relatively young age due to a congenital defect in my joints, one from which, unfortunately, my son also suffers. So, I expect to be out of commission for a couple of weeks as I heal up, but hope to be back at the keyboard soon after that.

And as you’re no doubt aware, this is the month for me to draw for the winner of the Autographed Book series of all four ABANDONED novels, all delivered in the mail to one lucky winner’s door. For those curious how the answers broke down on the question, ‘What is your favourite character in ABANDONED?’, Lively came in with 33%, Minerva at 22%, John Harder, Ricky Rosenstein and Amanda Jansen each pulling in 6% of the votes. Interestingly, Christine Moon also made it onto this list, though she is only mentioned in passing by Minerva in the novels.

And, lest we forget, this is also time for the monthly draws for two more lucky Katie Berry Books subscribers to win an audiobook and an autographed paperback novel of their choice. And so, here are the results for all three draws:

Monthly Audiobook Winner: anneh5555@XXXXXX.com

Monthly Autographed Paperback Winner: alyssah55@XXXXXX.com

Special ABANDONED Prize Draw Winner: jgramm58@XXXXXX.com

Well, that’s about it for this month. I’ll be back at the beginning of February with more news on book two of Emergence and how things went with my hip. I also hope to have more news on the movie adaptation of CLAW: A Canadian Thriller by then, so stay tuned for that as well.

All the best to you and yours in the new year,

-Katie Berry

P.S.- Remember, if you didn’t win this month, there is always next month. But remember, to win, you need to subscribe. In order to become a Katie Berry Books Insider and have a chance to win one of these great monthly prizes, go here: https://mailchi.mp/756d0cbb50ea/subscribe-page

  1. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to you, Katie! I hope your surgery goes well and a speedy recovery follows. I just purchased Claw Emergence: From the Shadows. As usual, I’m enjoying it soooooo much! I can’t wait for book 2!
    Well wishes from Tennessee!

    1. Thank you for your well wishes, Kelly. I am hoping I will mend quickly and be back in the thick of monsters, mayhem, and mystery quite soon. And I am gratified to hear you are enjoying CLAW Emergence: From the Shadows. And if you are able, it would be greatly appreciated if you could leave a review on Amazon in order to share your enjoyment with others.
Happy holidays and all the best in the new year.
      -Katie
