Slaughtered Sheep, Box Sets and a Driving Cat? What is this, April 1st?

Though it is April first today, I won’t fool you. The world is confusing enough at the moment, and I won’t add to that. I may make things up for a living, but when it comes to my writing, it all comes from the heart (albeit in a somewhat horrific manner sometimes). As you know, my stories are a thrill ride, going from moments of laughter and levity to heartbreak and horror, sometimes in only milliseconds. But when it comes to updates, I like to keep things real when it comes to the progress of my latest novel, BESIEGED.

The Slaughtered Sheep is ready for the holidays.

The month of March was a productive one. Lively and Minerva’s latest novel now stands at chapter 20 and just a few words shy of 40,000. A lot has happened in the last month, and there are things afoot that will keep you turning the pages long into the night.

The Slaughtered Sheep Public House, where Minerva is spending her time, is turning out to have many more skeletons in its closet than she’d expected. Meanwhile, Lively’s sea-going adventure has encountered something more horrific than he could have ever imagined when he started his ‘cruise’. I could say more, but instead, I think I’ll let your imagination run wild with this image I created for my inspiration for Minerva’s half of the tale.

Beware, or the Catsy Driver will be your last ride! (Click image for a larger view)

Speaking of imagining things. As usual, I have a new parody poster. In my latest alternate reality cinematic masterpiece, Nibbler has a new job and channels a little Bobby D, while Fry tags along for the ride.

With one thing leading to another, as they do in my novels and newsletters, I have a treat for those who like box sets and bank jobs gone wrong. Set in 1895 Lawless, BC, it is a story of a bank robber from the Emerald Isle whose latest heist brings him luck no respectable Irishman would ever want.

Yes, that’s right, coming within the next week, the complete three-book saga of Caleb Cantrill’s explosive adventure, CLAW Emergence. Previously only available in a three-book set, you can now read Emergence all in one place!

For those of you who’ve yet to read it, the box set will be an excellent way to catch up on all manner of creepy and crawly things from the past. If you have read and enjoyed the present-day trio of novels, then you owe it to yourself to check out the prequel. It provides quite a bit of background on the small mountain town born of gold and built by greed.

The box set you didn’t know you were waiting for: Arachnophobia meets Tremors in the Canadian Old West.

At almost 900 pages, the CLAW Emergence box set is an action-adventure tale set in an Old West, monster-infested town before it had a name. Of course, there’s plenty of humour to go with the horror, along with some characters you’d want to take home to meet the family, and others you’ll just love to hate. Heck, there’s even a touch of romance to round things out, but nothing that would make anyone want to gag themselves with a spoon (if I may go ‘80s Valley Girl for a moment).

In addition to a rollicking good time, the Emergence series answers many questions for those who’ve read the present-day CLAW novels (especially those who’ve made it to the end of Resurrection). Once the box set releases, I will send out another quick email blast to keep you up to date.

Before we go, I need to award two free audiobooks to a couple of lucky email subscribers. [Not subscribed? Well, that’s a wrap for this month. Take care of yourselves (and others, of course), and I will talk to you again next month.

Good health and great reads to you all,

-Katie B
